A song from my experience in the Middle East, and how Jesus can overcome and save us from the deserts of life.
lyrics
Went to the desert, what did I see?
I saw the devil, saying "Bow down to me,
And I will give you this world, and all the treasures it stores all for free,
If you'll just call me your lord and kindly fall down and bow on one knee,"
But I saw Jesus look Him right in the eyes, and tell him what the Scriptures say,
You can't tempt the Lord your God with all of your lies, trust in Him alone He's the way, out of the desert...
Went to the desert, what did I see?
Still saw the Devil, saying "Bow down to me,
Cause that old Jesus wasn't God, He was just a good man who could teach,
And you can work for your soul, if you'll just give me control you'll be free,
You know that I can get you anything you want, just trust in me with all of your lives,
I've got a set of rules that's guaranteed to punch you a ticket straight to paradise, or the desert...
Went to the desert, what did I see?
Thousands of people, and they were all deceived,
Because they thought that they knew, what they needed to do, God to please,
And my heart broke inside, compassion swallowed my pride, I was grieved,
Jesus said "I'm the Way, the Truth, and the Life, the Living Water, Bread, Door and Vine,
Any other path is just the Devil's delight, if you're not with the Life than you're dyin' in the desert...
